That shift led from Los Angeles to the Southern California desert near Joshua Tree National Park and the Palm Springs area, with its golf resorts, mountain views, clean air, and hot mineral waters in Desert Hot Springs.
A Natural Pull Toward the Ocean
Having grown up in Miami and South Florida, surrounded by endless water and spectacular sunrises and sunsets, Barbara never lost her connection to the beach. She wanted ocean horizons without the frenetic pace of many Florida and California beach towns, and found herself drawn instead to the laid-back lifestyle, long, uncrowded beaches, warm and welcoming people, culture, and color along Uruguay’s South Atlantic coast.
